FSRUs Exquisite and Excelerat performing first STS LNG transfer in Pakistan

JULY 21, 2015 — Excelerate Energy L.P. reports that it has completed the first Ship-to-Ship (STS) transfer of LNG at the Engro Elengy LNG Terminal, Port Qasim, Pakistan.

Excelerate’s floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU), Exquisite, received 130,000 cu.m of LNG from the FSRU Excelerate using the double-banked LNG transfer system. The operation was the company’s 500th commercial STS operation using the double-banked cryogenic transfer system technology, which was developed by Excelerate.

Commissioned in late March of this year, the terminal initially employed the Exquisite for both cargo delivery and regasification purposes. The terminal will continue to receive LNG supply via periodical STS transfers allowing for the continuous flow of gas into the local gas distribution system.

Excelerate Energy developed and implemented the industry’s first STS transfer system for LNG deliveries to regasification vessels in 2005 in order to optimize the capabilities of regasification vessels and to provide a viable solution for providing a continuous supply to market. STS transfers have been commercially accepted and proven in a wide range of environments including open ocean locations and protected bodies of water at a variety of locations between the LNG load ports and the market delivery points. To date, Excelerate has successfully completed over 785 STS operations, transferring over 83,000,000 cubic meters using its STS protocol.
