Zamakona Yards launches tuna vessel

90-meter tuna freezer vessel Ljubica

JULY 1, 2014—The tuna freezer vessel Ljubica was recently launched at Zamakona Yards shipyard in Bilbao, Spain, for the Ecuadoran shipowner Pesquera Miriam S.A.

The 90-meter-long fishing vessel was designed and developed by CINTRANAVAL – DEFCAR SL and has a fish tank capacity of 1,999 m3, 90 meters length and a service speed of18 knots.

The Ljubica is designed for the tuna fishing in the Pacific Ocean and will be delivered this coming fall.

This past April, Zamakona Yards was awarded a contract to build a 70-tonne bollard pull tug for Israel’s Haifa Port Company. The tug is based on a Voith Schneider design and will have a length of 31.5 meters and beam of 12.5 meters. Classed by Lloyd’s Register, the tug will have two Voith 32R5 cycloidal propellers coupled to MAN B&W 8L27/38 diesel engines, each developing 2,670 kW.

The tug will be fitted with a Hatlapa towing hook and winch.
