West Virginia steel plant starts Bulb Flat production

DECEMBER 15, 2014 — Bulb Flats offer significant benefits in shipbuilding stiffener applications. Now, Steel of West Virginia, Inc. has started production of Bulb Flats at its Huntington, WV, steel making facility.

“We are excited to add Bulb Flats to our product offerings of USA made steel products at our Huntington, WV plant,” said Timothy R. Duke, President of Steel of West Virginia, Inc. “We have successfully produced the 200 mm Bulb Flat and intend to produce them in the range of 120 mm – 240 mm in the first quarter of 2015. Bulb flats complement our product offerings of special sections for transportation markets. Steel of West Virginia, Inc. has a long history of steel making, with two electric arc furnaces, two rolling mills and numerous fabricating operations. We look forward to serving the water related vessel industry in the years ahead.”

Steel of West Virginia, Inc. is headquartered in Huntington, West Virginia.  The company is ABS certified and custom designs and manufactures special steel products used in ships, barges, offshore vessels and other industries.The company also produces a number of merchant products. Steel of West Virginia, Inc. is a wholly owned subsidiary of Steel Dynamics, Inc.
