Viking River to switch ocean cruise ship order to Fincantieri?

STX France reports that it has been informed by Viking River Cruise that it has decided to withdraw from further discussions concerning the project for two luxury cruise vessels announced on December 21, 2011.

The STX France announcement may not mean that Viking River has abandoned its plans to take its cruising style onto the oceans. Informed sources in Italy believe that shipbuilder Fincantieri may be poised to announce that it has won the order.
