VIDEO: SHI delivers world’s largest containership

South Korea’s Samsung Heavy Industries (SHI) says that it has successfully completed construction of the world’s largest containership three weeks ahead of the contracted delivery date.

The ship, the MSC Gulsun, is the first in a series of six 23,000 TEU containerships being built by SHI for Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC), which has a further five ships of this size on order at Daewoo Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering.

According to SHI, MSC Gulsun can carry 23,756 TEU containers and measures 400 meters in length, 61.5 meters in width and 33.2 meters in height.
