Vard Electro to equip U.K. research ship

JULY 12, 2016 — Vard Group subsidiary Vard Electro AS is to provide an engineering and electrical installation package for the new U.K. new polar research vessel.

The vessel is under construction at Cammell Laird Shiprepairers & Shipbuilders Ltd, which has awarded Vard Electro a contract that includes engineering resources to support the shipyard in the drawing approval process, complete electro installation onboard, and systems and products developed by Vard Electro.

The value of the contract is approximately NOK 100 million (about $11.8 million.

The 130 m long polar research vessel, which is expected to become operational in 2019, will be equipped with Vard’s SeaQ Communications system, customized for the specialized vessel and including remote management.
