Tuco delivers two ProZero fish farm net cleaning boats

NOVEMBER 11, 2016 — Denmark’s Tuco Marine has sold two ProZero 15 m boats as high pressure fish farm net cleaning boats to Norwegian aquaculture technology specialist AKVA Group.

Designed in collaboration with leading aqua culture experts, the 15 m HPC (high pressure cleaning) boats have been developed in response to many requests Tuco has had for specialized aqua cultural workboats from its Marine ProZero series of daughter crafts, workboats and FRC’s.

The two ProZero HPC Boats will be built of carbon fiber composites to reduce their structural weight. Both of the vessels are capable of cruising at more than 30 knots and are powered by a Volvo Penta IPS pair of inboard diesel engines with forward facing propellers, providing a superior control and world-class hull efficiency to keep fuel consumption at a minimum.

“Fisheries and aquaculture remain important sources of food, nutrition, income and livelihoods for hundreds of millions of people around the world. World per capita fish supply has reached a new record high, thanks to vigorous growth in aquaculture, which now provides half of all fish for human consumption. Therefore, it has been logical for us to target the sector with our fast and highly specialized boats,” says Tuco Marine CEO Jonas Pedersen.

The boats have been sold to AKVA Group in collaboration with Tuco Marine’s local partner in the fish farming market, Arild Friestad of Boat and Barge AS, a long time supplier to the industry.

In fish farming configuration, the ProZero’s hull features special hull appendages and reinforcements, to optimize it for fish farm operations, while delivering a a stable ride, including in rough sea.

The ProZero workboats have been developed around the design team’s shock mitigation strategy, with a high level of attention being payed to minimizing effects of shocks to the human body and the boat during all parts of operations.
