One of world’s largest cruise ships floated out

Harmony of the Seas at STX Shipyard

JUNE 22, 2015—Royal Caribbean International’s 227,000-gross ton Harmony of the Seas was floated out of dry dock this week, following the completion of its exterior construction at the STX shipyard in Saint-Nazaire, France.

Expected to be completed by April 2016, the Oasis Class Harmony of the Seas will sail the Western Mediterranean from Barcelona, Spain, during her inaugural season before arriving at her homeport of Fort Lauderdale in November 2016, where she will sail the Caribbean. Harmony of the Seas will feature seven distinct neighborhoods, 20 restaurants and 2,394 crew to serve her guests.  

Guests onboard Harmony of the Seas will experience new amenities including three multi-story water slides, the Bionic Bar with robot bartenders, first introduced aboard Quantum of the Seas, and Voom, the fastest Internet connection at sea which gives guests the ability to instantly share their vacation through their social media channels.

Harmony of the Seas will span 16 decks, encompass 227,000 gross registered tons, carry 5,479 guests at double occupancy, and feature 2,747 staterooms. The Oasis class is an architectural marvel touting Royal Caribbean’s exclusive seven neighborhood concept, including Central Park, Boardwalk, the Royal Promenade, the Pool and Sports Zone, Vitality at Sea Spa and Fitness Center, Entertainment Place and Youth Zone.
