Olympic orders another OSV at Kleven Maritime
Written byGood news for Norway’s Myklebust Verft. Layoffs had been looming at the Kleven Maritime group shipyard. But now Olympic Shipping AS has awarded the yard an order for the delivery of an advanced offshore support vessel (OSV) of the Marin Teknikk MT 6009 L design.
Delivery is set for September 2011. The early delivery is possible because the yard will utilize a hull that is already built and ready for outfitting.
The vessel has an overall length of 79.7 meters, a beam of 16.8 meters, deck space of 745 sq. m, and a deadweight of 3 500 tons. The accommodation area has a capacity of 40 persons and the vessel will include facilities that will make it well suited to ROV and subsea construction work.
Kleven Maritime now has an orderbook of 11 vessels at a value of NOK 4.5 billions.
Including this contract Olympic has recently ordered vessels worth NOK 1 billion with Kleven Maritime.
“We are well pleased to have signed contracts with a local supplier where a large part of the total supply to the vessels has been awarded locally. This fact illustrates that the local maritime cluster is competitive,” commented Olympic Shipping owner Stig Remøy.
