OFAC adds Singapore shipping company to sanctions list

JULY 24, 2015 — The U.S. Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) has issued a notice updating its list of specially designated nationals (SDNs) under the North Korean economic sanctions to include an additional shipping company, ship management company, and vessel.

The shipping company is Singapore based Senat Shipping and Trading.

According to the Straits Times, it strongly denies the charges saying it  has “for many years chartered North Korean vessels to operate on the global spot market” but all these have been legitimate commercial transactions (see Straits Times story).  

Meantime it has been added to the OFAC SDN list as:
