Fallon NNSDECEMBER 11, 2012 — Huntington Ingalls Industries (NYSE:HII) reports that Alma Martinez Fallon, director of supply chain procurement at Newport News Shipbuilding, is a recipient of an Inside Business 2012 Women in Business Achievement Award. Ms. Fallon was presented with the award last night during a banquet held at the Norfolk Waterside Marriott.

“It is a humbling experience for me to be an honoree along with such an outstanding group of women,” she said. “I want to thank Newport News Shipbuilding for fostering an environment of outreach, learning and development.”

Women in Business Achievement Award recipients are selected by a panel of judges that reviews nominations from the public. The award was created 10 years ago to celebrate women who are successful in their careers, have made a significant impact on the business community and local economy and have served as mentors and examples to others. The weekly business publication honored 25 community leaders with the award this year.

Ms. Fallon is responsible for about $1 billion in material annually, subcontracting and service requirements for all programs at NNS, and joint procurement with General Dynamics Electric Boat, NNS’ partner in the building of Virginia-class submarines.

A leader in the engineering profession, Ms. Fallon was the national president of the Society of Women Engineers in 2004 and is a senior life member of the organization. She is an American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) fellow and served on the ASME Board of Governors. She also served as the 2007 Chair of American Association of Engineering Societies. Ms. Fallon is currently a member on the ASME Committee on Finance and Investment.

“Alma has held many positions in her career, with significant contributions to process and performance improvements in engineering, manufacturing and supply chain management,” said Brian Fields, NNS’ vice president of supply chain management. “She is widely recognized in the shipbuilding industry as a strong leader and has advanced the state of our supply chain management organization through innovative investments in our suppliers.”
