New Global Class barges join Maxum Marine fleet

globsatmicroMaxum Marine recently hosted a christening ceremony at Pier 66, in the Port of Seattle, Washington, for its new barge, Global Seattle.

Maxum Marine, a division of Maxum Petroleum, provides marine gas oil and deep draft lubricants to vessels in ports throughout the U.S. West Coast and British Columbia, as well as in the Panama Canal. Deep draft lubricants are blended at Maxum Marine facilities in Rancho Dominguez, Calif., and in Balboa, Panama.

Global Seattle is the first in a series of four Global Class double hulled barges to be deployed along the U.S. West Coast by Maxum Marine. The second barge, Global Long Beach, has been delivered and is on location in the Port of Los Angeles and expected to commence operations in the next two weeks. The remaining two barges will be delivered to Maxum Marine in Portland and San Francisco in May, 2011.

Built by Trinity Marine Products, Inc., in Madisonville, La., a division of Dallas-based Trinity Industries, the 190 ft x 46 ft x 15 ft,10,000 bbl capacity barges are ABS Classed A-1, ocean service.

With eight cargo tanks, each barge has two Blackmer 8 inch cargo pumps and will supply both marine gas oil and marine lubricants Offloading capacity is around 2,800 bbl/hr. Anchoring system is in accordance with ABS Rules and equipment includes 65ft Hydra Pro hose handling crane and Markey Capstans for offshore mooring.
