JANUARY 16, 2015—It is said that fame is fleeting and perhaps there is no better case than the 19,100-TEU CSCL Globe, which held the title of the world’s largest containership for about 53 days.
That’s because the 19,224-TEU MSC Oscar emerged from the Korea’s Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine on January 8, joining the Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC) fleet for operation on routes between Asia and Europe.
The 197,362 dwt containership is 395.4 meters long. “Congratulations to MSC on this fantastic achievement! We are very proud to be the lubricant supplier for the MSC Oscar,” says Jan Thiedeitz, Director of LUKOIL Marine Lubricants. The company specializing in marine lubricants is an important business partner for MSC, supplying lubricants to more than 100 vessels in the MSC fleet.
But it is not only the size of the vessel that is impressive. MSC also demonstrates its concern for the environment for example, by equipping the MSC Oscar with increased fuel efficiency engines for a healthier supply chain. For all its new orders, MSC trusts in the pioneering technology developed by LUKOIL Marine Lubricants: the iCOlube. This is an “intelligent cylinder oil lubrication” unit optimizing both the performance and overall efficiency of vessel engines.
