OCTOBER 6, 2017 — Bulgaria’s Navigation Maritime Bulgare (Navibulgar) has contracted four Bluetech 45 handymax bulk carriers at China’s Jiangsu Yangzijiang Shipbuilding Group. The contract includes options for two further ships.

The Bluetech 45 design is based on the successful Bluetech 42 design developed by Helsinki, Finland, based naval architect firm Bluetech Finland Ltd.

The ships will have a length of 190 m, maximum draft of 10.8 m, a dwt of 45,000 tons, a large hold volume and will be built to ice class 1C.

Bluetech Finland says its bulk carrier designs have the largest hold volume and deadweight and lowest fuel consumption in their class, making them the most eco-friendly on the market. The designs are marketed worldwide by Clarksons Platou Shipbroking.
