Master Marine delivers first of four for Waterfront Services

Miss Deborah is first of four fleet boats ordered from Master Marine by Waterfront Services

OCTOBER 11, 2017— Bayou La Batre, AL, shipbuilder Master Marine, Inc., has delivered the Miss Deborah, first of four 1,600 hp towboats to Waterfront Services Co., that will help the Cairo, IL, fleeting services company meet Subchapter M requirements.

Following the delivery of the Miss Deborah, Master Marine plans to deliver one vessel from the series every three months, according to the company’s Steven Authement. The remaining vessels in these series will be christened Tom Torretti, Sam P. Hise, and Rick Pemberton.

The 67 ft x 28 ft Miss Deborah has 11 in x 18 in rubber fendering around the entire vessel, along with push knees, and fleet deck with shipyard-installed weld caps between all the fenders. The fendering was supplied by Schuyler Rubber.

Propulsion for the towboat is supplied by two S6R2-Y3MPTAW Mitsubishi EPA Tier 3-compliant diesel marine engines that are each rated at 803 hp at 1,400 rev/min that drive 70 in x 48 in x 7 in four-blade, stainless steel propellers via Twin Disc MG 5321, 5:1 reduction gears and 7 in ABS grade 2 propellers shafts.

The engines and generators were supplied by Laborde Products and Sound Propeller Services supplied the props.

The Miss Deborah has RW Fernstrum, Inc. keel coolers, and her electrical power is supplied by two Northern Lights M65C13.2S 65KW Tier 3 electronic-controlled generators.

The propeller shafts are fitted with Thordon bearings, Thorplas bushings and shaft seals.

Gulf Coast Air & Hydraulics Inc. provided the steering system and a pair of Quincy F325 reciprocating air compressors.

R.S. Price & Son, Inc. provided Mitsubishi mini-split heat pump HVAC system on all interior spaces with Blakeney Marine providing all custom woodwork and interior finishes. Donovan Marine provided the large aluminum Diamond SeaGlaze windows and Dales Welding and Fabricators, LLC supplied the aluminum exterior doors. Dickson Marine Supply provided a pair of Wintech 40-ton deck winches and New World, Inc. provided all of the electronics and communications for the vessel.

All of the boats will be set up with 10,400 gallons of fuel, 4,359 gallons of potable water and 9,500 gallons of ballast water along with providing a maximum 7 ft 9 in working draft.

Besides the series of towboats, Master Marine is also busy with U.S. Coast Guard, U.S. Air Force and commercial repair work. The shipyard employs under 100 workers.
