MARAD/SOCP to hold anti-piracy demonstration in Baltimore

pirateflagThe Ship Operations Cooperative Program (SOCP) is inviting maritime industry representatives to attend a joint MARAD/SOCP Anti-Piracy Training and Technology demonstration to be held at 399 East Cromwell Street, Baltimore, MD  21230 on November 1, 2011.

The goals are:

  • Conduct a training and technology demonstration utilizing counter-piracy tactics and non-lethal devices.
  • Provide the opportunity for the U.S. shipping industry, labor and government agencies to observe and evaluate the available technology and services available to reduce the risks associated with piracy.

All maritime industry and labor representatives are invited to attend.  Attendees will be responsible for providing:

  • Their own travel to and from the event.
  • Event Registration
  • Liability Waiver Form
  • U.S. Government issued Photo ID to enter the CAPE WASHINGTON pier security gate

The Maritime Administration has invited U.S. Government Officials to be in attendance for this event.

Attendance for the event will be capped at 200 people to promote a safe and secure event.  Attendees will  not be permitted onboard the ship.

Parking for this event will be in the parking lot adjacent to Wal-Mart (Sam’s Club) at 2701 Port Covington Dr, Baltimore, MD 21230.  SOCP will provide transportation between the ship pier and the parking lot.

This is a “Rain or Shine” event.  It is not anticipated that rain or high winds will change the activities or scheduling.
