John W. Stone takes delivery of tank barge

stone oilDECEMBER 27, 2012—John W. Stone Oil Distributor, LLC, Gretna, LA, a pioneer in midstream fueling business in the Port of New Orleans, recently took delivery of the 30,000 bbl tank barge S-37 from Conrad Shipyard, Morgan City, LA.

S-37 is equipped to carry two segregated cargoes. The forward four tanks will be used to carry low sulfur six oil and the aft six tanks will be used for traditional six oil products. The barge is equipped with segregated pipelines each equipped with two pumps and engines. The barge has four Cummins 6CTA8.3 engines supplied by Devall Diesel two of which drive 8 inch. Blackmer pumps supplied by Service Equipment and two which drive Flowserve Deepwell pumps supplied by Duvic’s.

The barge is also equipped to carry 60,000 gallons of diesel fuel in two above deck tanks for delivery to customers on the river. The barge is equipped to pump six oil to ships in the New Orleans area through a double 6 inch cargo boom, which is structurally certified and meets ASME code.
