Harvey Deep Sea gets its crane on

JULY 29, 2013 — Harvey Gulf International Marine, LLC said that its flagship multipurpose construction vessel Harvey Deep-Sea has, with the assistance of Bisso Marine, completed installation of its NOV 165 t heave compensated knuckle boom crane at Associated Terminals in Port of St. Bernard, LA.

Harvey Gulf took delivery of the the 302 ft x 64 ft x 24.5 ft vessel from Eastern Shipbuilding July 19 (see earlier story). The vessel is currently undergoing mobilization at Bollinger Shipyards in Port Fourchon, LA, in support of its four year charter to DOF Subsea.

Heave compensated knuckle boom crane has the capacity to lower 100 t to 3000 m/10,000 ft.

Harvey Gulf says that the Harvey Deep-Sea is a first of its kind for the Gulf of Mexico. By significantly enhancing the high capacity Harvey Supporter, Sisuaq and Harvey Champion’s traditional liquid mud, cement and methanol cargoes with an increase to 70 POB, two work class ROVs, 15 ft x18ft moon pool, 165 t crane, 100 t stern roller, S92 Helideck and meeting the most environmentally stringent ABS notations; Enviro+ and Green Passport, says Harvey Gulf, it has created a new generation of Jones Act compliant multi-purpose construction vessels.

The 690 V, STX Marine designed diesel electric Harvey Deep-Sea is fitted with with four Cat 3516C Gensets providing 9,000 kW of installed power powering two 2,500 kW z-drives and three 1,180 kW transverse thrusters. Fuel oil capacity of 453,000 USG, Liquid mud capacity of 15,500 bbl, dry bulk capacity of 8,200 cu.ft and methanol capacity of 1,700 bbl all support a working deck of 10,400 sq.ft rated for 5 t/sq.m and 10 t/sq.m.

The vessel is currently undergoing mobilization at Bollinger Shipyards in Port Fourchon in support of its four year charter to DOF Subsea.
