Euronav sells oldest VLCC for FPSO conversion

Antwerp, Belgium, headquartered Euronav NV reports that subsidiary Euronav Luxembourg has sold the 2005-built, 305,261 dwt VLCC vessel VK Eddie , the oldest VLCC in its fleet, to a global supplier and operator of offshore floating platforms.

The sale brings the total balance of Euronav’s VLCC fleet to 42 vessels, with an average age of 6.7 years.

A capital gain on the sale of approximately $14.4 million will be recorded during the current quarter. The vessel has been delivered to her new owners and will be converted into an FPSO , leaving the worldwide tanker trading fleet.

Euronav says that its reputation for providing high quality operational tonnage is appreciated in the offshore sector with the VK Eddie being the ninth vessel the it has successfully introduced into an offshore project over the past decade.
