Drew Marine acquires Ocean Signal

MAY 1, 2015 —Margate, Kent, U.K. headquartered marine communications and safety equipment specialist Ocean Signal Ltd has been acquired by Drew Marine Ltd., Whippany, NJ. It will operate as a unit of Drew Marine subsidiary ACR Electronics, Inc. (ACR), Fort Lauderdale, FL, a leader in safety and survival technologies.

“This is an exciting time for Ocean Signal and ACR,” said Ocean Signal Managing Director Alan Wrigley. “This combination will allow Ocean Signal to expand its capabilities and together we will redefine safety and survival technology in order to save more lives around the world – which is the objective we are all working towards.”

Founded in 2008, research and development-based Ocean Signal recently launched the award-winning rescueME MOB1 and rescueME EDF1 Electronic Distress Flare to add to its established portfolio of rescueME and SafeSea products.

The combined ACR and Ocean Signal brands now offer a full range of Emergency Position Indicating Radio Beacons, Personal Locator Beacons, Search and Rescue Transponders, AIS Man Overboard Beacons, VHF radios, Searchlights, rescue strobe lights, pyrotechnics and safety accessories.
