Devall Diesel Services, Sulphur, La., introduced a new addition to its product line, the Barge Power Pack, an engine system designed for hazardous-duty barge operations.

The system is intended for use on barges transporting hazardous liquids, where minimizing ignition risk is critical. The Barge Power Pack is built for operations in environments where a spark could pose significant safety risks.

The unit is powered by the FPT NEF67MNT, a fully mechanical, 150–173 hp Tier 3 engine that drives cargo pumps without electrical components, eliminating potential ignition sources in explosive atmospheres.

Engineered for hazardous duty, the system operates without electricity and is Class 1, Division 1 certified for use in explosive environments.

The design includes three fuel points on the skid to allow flexible positioning in the field. According to the company, the system can deliver up to 30% fuel savings compared to older Tier 2 engines.

The enclosed structure is designed to protect components from marine conditions, with powder-coated parts and stainless fittings intended to improve corrosion resistance.

For maintenance, the unit includes large access doors to support routine service and inspections, along with dedicated radiator access to reduce downtime. Support is available 24/7 through MSHS PPG.

“The Barge Power Pack represents a major step forward for marine operators working in high-risk environments,” said David Devall, Devall Diesel Services general manager. “It’s engineered for reliability, safety, and ease of service — everything our customers expect from Devall Diesel.”
