OSK-ShipTech references include LNG fueled RoPax on order for Rederi Gotland

APRIL 16, 2015 — Copenhagen, Denmark, based OSK-ShipTech A/S has acquired consulting naval architects A/S Jørgen Petersen, which is based in Horsens, Denmark, and has more than 40 years of experience in ship design and consulting.

OSK-ShipTech A/S has in recent years developed a strong business in the passenger vessels market, with recent references including the LNG fueled RoPax ordered by Sweden’s Rederi AB Gotland at China’s Guangzhou Shipyard (see earlier story).

It says that pooling its know-how with that of A/S Jørgen Petersen, a specialist in smaller passenger ferries, will reinforce its leading position covering the entire span of passenger vessels – large and small.

OSK-ShipTech is a leader in the use of green propulsion technology on smaller vessels. “Together with A/S Jørgen Petersen,” says the firm, “we will continue to serve our clients and support them with the best alternative propulsion solutions and implement these on larger vessels in order to take alternative propulsion solutions into the future and positively impact passenger and cargo transportation at sea,”

“The acquisition of A/S Jørgen Petersen and its portfolio of smaller passenger vessels is an important complementation of our client base, currently consisting of nearly 100 passenger vessels all in excess of 100 m length,” says Anders Ørgård Hansen of OSK-ShipTech A/S.”We will continue to expand our client base and push the evolution of hybrid technologies from smaller ferries into larger ferries as battery technology matures,” he adds. “Hybrid technology is a very strong competence within OSK today and going forward.”

All employees of A/S Jørgen Petersen will continue to serve their clients.
