Colonna’s Shipyard books $13.7 million Navy contract

colonnasSEPTEMBER 29, 2013 — Colonna’s Shipyard Inc. doing business as Steel America, Norfolk, Va., is being awarded a $13,789,200 firm-fixed-price contract for construction of a steel caisson for graving Drydock 1 at the Charlestown Naval Shipyard.

The work to be performed provides for the design and construction of a steel caisson, including all mechanical and electrical fitting out and delivery.

Work will be performed in Norfolk, Va., and is expected to be completed by January 2015. Fiscal 2013 operation and maintenance, Navy contract funds in the amount of $13,789,200 are obligated on this award and will expire at the end of the current fiscal year. This contract was competitively procured via the Navy Electronic Commerce Online website, with one proposal received. The Naval Facilities Engineering Command, Atlantic, Norfolk, Va., is the contracting activity (N40085-13-C-8028).
