Written by Nick BlenkeyDECEMBER 4, 2012 — Singapore-based Basic Offshore has placed an order with China Guangzhou-Huangpu Shipbuilding for two 84.5 m x 17.6 m platform supply vessels plus options for six more.
The 4,200 dwt, DP2 diesel electric vessels are high-specification medium-large PSVs and are being built to a new design from Norway’s Havyard Global Solutions, the Havyard 832 L SE Design. This is an extended version of the original Havyard 832. The 832 L SE Design is larger and has bigger crew capacity, providing accommodations for up to 53 people. The ship is prepared for installation of a 70 mt offshore crane, which will make it possible for the ship to do light subsea construction work, and bulkheads are in place for installation of a moonpool
The vessels can reach 14 knots at 100% load at each propulsion motor in calm weather, with clean hull and at deep sea (economic speed: 10-11 knots).
The units will fly the Singapore flag and will be classed by Bureau Veritas.
