Franco to keynote Marine Log Tugs & Barges 2014

Marine Log is pleased to announce that Deborah Franco, Vice President of Risk Management, Environmental and Regulatory Affairs, Harley Marine Services, Seattle, WA, will be the keynote speaker for Marine Log’s Tugs & Barges 2014 Conference & Expo, which will be held May 12-13, 2014 at the Stamford Marriott in Stamford, CT.

“We’re very excited to have Deborah kick off Tugs & Barges 2014,” says John R. Snyder, Publisher and Editor-in-Chief, Marine Log magazine. “Harley Marine Services is one of the most progressive, rapidly growing tug and barge operators in the U.S., and Deborah has spearheaded the company’s programs that have earned them praise for innovation and environmental stewardship.”

With roots dating back to 1987, HMS owns and operates a fleet of about 120 tugs and barges, providing bunkering, dirty and petroleum transport, tanker escort and ship assist services, with operations on the U.S. East, Gulf and West Coasts.

Franco has also been Vice President of HSQE (Health, Safety, Quality, Environmental), Human Resources and Administration at Harley Marine Services (HMS) since 2005, during which time she has implemented Quality Systems and attained ISO/ISM and AWO – RCP certifications companywide.  Harley Marine is H, S, Q, and E-certified to the ISM Code, ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and the OHSAS 18001 standards.

She also sits on the boards of American Waterways Operators (AWO), Chamber of Shipping of America (CSA), and the Los Angeles/Long Beach Propeller Club.

Franco’s participation is part of a roster of renowned industry experts that will be participating during the two-day executive event. Focusing on the “Future of Coastal Transport,” the conference will include individual and panel presentations that will address LNG as a marine fuel, as well as bunkering and supply, EPA Tier 4 and environmental compliance, marine financing, safety, training, and tug and barge design and innovation.
