Conrad and Samsung Heavy get ABS AiP for LNG bunkering barge design

Morgan City, La.-headquartered Conrad Shipyard and Samsung Heavy Industries have marked a significant milestone in their collaboration on LNG bunkering projects: they have received a joint
Approval in Principle (AiP) from ABS for the design of a 12,000-cubic meter LNG bunkering articulated tug and barge (ATB).

The AiP reflects the successful development of a vessel concept intended for construction in the United States and builds upon the cooperation framework established between Conrad and Samsung Heavy Industries for LNG bunkering vessel development.

The news was announced in conjunction with the July 23 opening of the Korea-U.S. Shipbuilding Partnership Center (KUSPC) in Washington, D.C..
