Damen enters cruise market with order for 155 m mega yacht

Damen Shipyards Group has booked its first newbuilding order from the cruise sector. It comes from Norwegian entrepreneur Atle Brynestad’s SeaDream Yacht Club and covers the construction of a 155 m mega yacht that will be built at the Damen Mangalia shipyard in Romania.

To be named the SeaDream Innovation, the ship will have only 110 ocean-view suites and will have a one-to-one guest to crew ratio. It will operate on luxury voyages world wide and will be built to ice class Polar 6.

The mega yacht will be completely constructed and outfitted, including the interior, at the Mangalia shipyard by Damen, working in partnership with leading suppliers to the cruise industry. Construction will start in October this year, with a scheduled delivery date of September 2021.

The mega yacht, a purpose-built ship, will be prepared to operate in destinations, including polar and tropical, around the world. As such, the vessel will boast ice class Polar Code 6 credentials.“
