APRIL 8, 2014 — An articulated tug barge being built by VT Halter Marine for Bouchard Transportation is being fitted with Hyde Guardian ballast water treatment systems. The system being installed on the ATB tug — a model HG150 — is the 300th Hyde Guardian BWTS to be sold.

Additionally, two Hyde GuardianGold (HG1000GX-ATB) units have been sold by W&O Supply, Hyde Marine’s exclusive sales distributor in the U.S. and Canada, for the Bouchard Transportation ATB barges being built at VT Halter Marine’s Pascagoula, MS, shipyard. They will be placed on the deck of the vessels.

Another Hyde GuardianGold ATB application will be on an ATB building for Moran Towing at Fincantieri Marine Group member Bay Shipbuilding Co., (BSC) in Sturgeon Bay, WI. This ATB will be fitted with two systems (each with a 1,000 cu.m/hr flow rate).

“Hyde Marine is committed to meeting the needs of ship owners and operators. Through our partnerships with organizations, such as W&O, we are in a unique position to help the maritime marketplace address ballast water treatment compliance,” says John Platz, President of Hyde Marine,

Hyde Marine says its BWTS are ideal for vessel applications that have short runs, operate in multiple salinities, or require quick turnarounds and that they provide a safe, efficient solution to meet ballasting needs without interfering with vessel operations or requiring extra crew time.

Hyde says that its GuardianGold BWTS is ideal for retrofits as it provides the compact size required by a growing number of ship owners and operators, while maintaining the robust construction and technological specifications necessary to meet stringent ballast water treatment regulations.

Among Hyde Marine’s retrofit customers is TE Subcom, which has scheduled retrofits of HG 150 units for its eight Reliance Class cable laying ships.
