MAY 12, 2016 — Chantier Davie Canada Inc. has released a video that, it says, is first in a multi-episode series about Canada’s next Auxiliary Oiler Replenishment Ship.

The ship is being created through Project Resolve under which the shipbuilder’s Levis, Quebec, shipyard is converting a containership into a much needed interim fleet oiler for the Royal Canadian Navy.

Owned by Federal Fleet Services Inc., the converted ship, m/v Asterix, will be provided to the Royal Canadian Navy under a full provision of services agreement that includes the entire marine operations management of the ship.

Davie, of course, would like to extend this model to other types of vessels, notably icebreakers.
