Davie partners with marine accommodations specialist

OCTOBER 19, 2915 — Canadian shipbuilder Chantier Davie Canada, Inc. says it has formalized a partnership with Turku, Finland, headquartered ALMACO Group, which is perhaps best known for its work on cruise ship accomodations.

These days, ALMACO designs and project manages the construction of marine accommodation systems for vessels and offshore units  of all types, working at shipyards and industrial fabricators worldwide.

As part of the partnership arrangement with Davie, ALMACO will open a site-office and setup assembly facilities at Davie and will enter into a technology- and knowledge-transfer with the shipbuilder for its current and future shipbuilding and offshore fabrication programs.

ALMACO has already been working with Davie on the Project Resolve program, under which the yard is converting a containership into an interim fleet oiler for the Royal Canadian Navy (see earlier story).

The two companies have worked with OMX, a Canadian supply chain technology platform that aims to optimize Canadian content in defense procurements, using an online survey to allow industry and Royal Canadian Navy staff to make suggestions on how Davie and ALMACO can optimize the accommodations on board and improve the quality-of-life for all personnel onboard.
