JUNE 30, 2017—Damen Shiprepair & Conversion (DSC), a part of Damen Shipyards Group, has finalized its acquisition of the Keppel Verolme shipyard located in Rotterdam from Singapore’s Keppel Offshore & Marine.

DSC’s acquisition of the yard follows an initial agreement made between the two companies this past April. Starting July 1, Damen will takeover operation of the Keppel Verolme shipyard and its 250 staff members.

“The facilities and personnel are complementary to our existing organization,” says Durk-Jan Nederlof, Managing Director of Damen Shiprepair & Conversion. “This acquisition will enable us to serve our existing clients even better while opening up new opportunities.”

With three dry docks—the largest of which measures 405m x 90m—and almost 2 km of quay capacity, the Verolme yard, located in Rotterdam’s Botlek harbor, will significantly expand DSC’s portfolio. DSC already operates eight repair and conversion shipyards in the Netherlands and another eight abroad.
