JULY 2, 2014—Babcock Canada, Inc., and Chantier Davie Canada Inc., Levis, Quebec, Canada, announced the completion of the refit and upgrade of the Canadian Coast Guard Polar icebreaker Louis St. Laurent . The work was performed under a $6.5 million contract, with Chantier Davie under a subcontract from Babcock Canada.

The work included maintenance to meet marine regulatory requirements and upgrades to various vessel systems from propulsion to navigation in order for the vessel to complete its annual work in the Arctic this summer, said Chantier Davie.

Davie CEO Alan Bowen called the on-time and on-budget completion of the project “a testament to the 1,100 skilled shipbuilders” at the shipyard.
