Two ships collect Transport Canada speeding tickets

Today, Transport Canada has issued monetary penalties of C$7,800 each to two vessels Americaborg and Atlantic Spirit, for alleged non-compliance with a temporary mandatory slow down. put in place July 10, to protect endangered whales such as the North Atlantic right whale.

The vessels’ owners have 30 days to pay their penalty or to ask the Transportation Appeal Tribunal of Canada to review the facts of their individual violations or the amounts of their penalties.

Americaborg is a 17,356 dwt, Netherlands flagged general cargo ship managed by Wagenborg Shipping.

Atlantic Spirit is 35,000 dwt, Hong Kong flagged bulker operated by Asia Maritime Pacific, Shanghai
