Maersk Tankers has appointed Eva Birgitte Bisgaard as its Chief Commercial Officer (CCO), She comes to the company from Danish telecoms specialist TDC.

Maersk Tankers says its moves to strengthen its services to its partners include using digitalization to enhance the performance of partners’ vessels, which will reduce CO2 emissions and optimize earnings.

Bisgaard has held a wide range of senior management positions at TDC where, says Maersk Tankers, she has played an active role in the transformation of the company, creating and delivering an enhanced customer and partner experience through the expanded use of digital solutions. Previously, she held commercial vice president positions in the company’s business-to-business divisions.

At Maersk Tankers, Bisgaard will spearhead the company’s commercial engagement with partners and customers.

Maersk Tankers has recently been on a growth trajectory, increasing the number of vessels under commercial management to 224 and looking to grow further.

”We are building scale through partnerships, using the vast amount of data at our disposal to boost commercial performance and make a positive impact on the climate,” says Christian M. Ingerslev, CEO of Maersk Tankers. “Eva Birgitte is an inclusive people leader who shares our values. She has a proven track record of leading business transformations, embracing digitalization and maintaining long-standing relations with partners in a highly competitive industry. This makes her a strong fit for Maersk Tankers and our strategic ambitions to shape the future of the industry.”

Bisgaard will join Maersk Tankers on October 1, 2020. She will report to Ingerslev and become a member of the leadership team.

“I am excited to have the opportunity to work for a company with the proud history and bold ambitions of Maersk Tankers,” says Bisgaard. “Having spent my career within the fast-moving tech field, I look forward to helping Maersk Tankers and its partners develop and deploy digital technology to respond to industry and environmental challenges and opportunities. We will work in tandem with our partners and customers, creating solutions together that meet their needs.”
