Another BWMS awarded USCG Type Approval

JUNE 21, 2018 — The U.S. Coast Guard’s Maritime Commons blog reports that the USCG Marine Safety Center has issued the ninth Coast Guard Ballast Water Management System type approval certificate. It was awarded to France’s BIO-UV Group, after a detailed review of the manufacturer’s type approval application determined the system met the requirements of 46 CFR 162.060.

The treatment principle of the BIO-SEA B BWMS consists of filtration with UV treatment at uptake and discharge. This approval covers models with maximum treatment rated capacities between 55 cu.m/h and 1,400 cu.m/h.
