China’s AFAI Southern Shipyard has delivered two Incat Crowther 40 high speed ferries to Zhuhai Fast Ferry Company. The vessels — the Xin Hai Yun and Xin Hai Jun — represent the next generation of sleek, fast, low fuel consumption ferries operating in the Pearl River Delta region.

AFAI Southern Shipyard’s winning bid for the project was underpinned by the partnership’s ability to deliver a high speed, low fuel consumption vessel designed to offer a step-change in passenger experience.

Each ferry accommodates 199 economy passengers on a single deck with VIP passengers having a dedicated cabin on the upper deck.

The main passenger deck has all amenities aft to maximize crew comfort and deliver an open, airy cabin with clean forward visibility.

The vessels are powered by twin MTU 12V2000 M72 main engines, driving Kamewa S71-4 waterjets.

They feature Incat Crowther’s latest hull form with a unique reverse bow design that optimizes hull efficiency and seakeeping characteristics to deliver=reduced operating costs and exceptional passenger comfort.
