Dawn Services acquires Shoalbuster to expand workboat fleet
Written by Marine Log Staff
Louisiana-based Dawn Services has acquired the M/V Coastal Dawn, formerly the M/V Candace, adding a Damen-designed Shoalbuster to its fleet and expanding its ability to serve coastal, inland and offshore markets.
The Shoalbuster design is widely used in the maritime industry for its durability and multi-mission capability.
The addition of the M/V Coastal Dawn reflects a strategic investment in versatile marine assets aimed at meeting growing demand for marine construction and dredging support.
The vessel’s shallow draft hull, rugged construction and towing capability make it suited for operations in bays, rivers, coastal waters, ports and offshore project sites where deeper draft vessels may be limited. It will support a range of operations, including barge towing, dredging support, construction assistance and general marine services.
Dawn Services acquired the vessel from Weeks Marine, Covington, La., continuing a 25-year relationship between the companies.
