NOVEMBER 14, 2014 — Sener has won its first marine engineering contract in Korea. It comes from Posco Group member Posco Plantec and covers the design of a 1,200 passenger vessel designed for the following operational areas: Northern Mozambique, Dar es Salaam, Zanzibar, Tanga and Mombasa.

Posco Plantec and sister Posco Group member Daewoo International received a contract for the vessel earlier this year from the Government of Zanzibar, a semi-autonomous region of Tanzania. It is scheduled for delivery in 2015.

The ferry will have an overall length of 90 m and passenger capacity will be divided into economy, first and VIP classes. It will have a garage for cargo and vehicles, with access through one stern ramp for cars and trucks and two side ramps for cargo. The speed on trials will be 16 knots at the design draft of 3.35m. It will have a crew of 32 people.

The scope of the project to be developed by Sener includes conceptual and classification engineering and the 3D model to extract the production information. It will be developed Sener's FORAN 3D CAD system.

Sener has a number of recent references in the passengers vessel and Ro-Ro sectors.
