Cochin Shipyard launches advanced PSVs

Cochin shipyard PSVAUGUST 6, 2012 — Government of India owned Cochin Shipyard Limited last week launched two platform supply vessels that it is building for a European client. Bearing the shipyard Hull Nos. BY 89 and BY 90, both the vessels are of STX OSV's PSV 05L CD design and built to DNV class.

The 82.20 m x 17.00 m x 7.60 m diesel electric PSVs are each equipped with four 1,200 kW diesel generator sets and two 1,600 kW input power azimuth thrusters.

Built to DNV's CLEAN DESIGN notation, they are equipped with Ballast Water Treatment plans. With accommodations for 28 persons, they also meet the requirements of the COMF notation, signifying high comfort levels with special arrangements to attain very low levels of noise and vibration. The vessels also have fire fighting facilities to meet FIRE FIGHTER 1 Notation. They also meet the requirements of the OILREC (oil recovery vessel) and LFL (Low Flash Liquids) notations.
