Firestorm 36 Mk II is now protecting the island of Tuan Chau, in Ha-Long Bay, Vietnam.

MetalCraft Marine, which has yards in both Watertown, N.Y., and Kingston, Ontario, reports that its Kingston yard has delivered a Firestorm 36 Mk II fireboat to the Fire Department of Quang Ninh Province (Canh Sat PCCC) in Vietnam. It will serve the island of Tuan Chau, in Ha-Long Bay.

The Firestorm 36 Mk II arrived in Vietnam in December of 2020 and was commissioned in late January of 2021 by MCM staff — with technical assistance and translation provided by technicians from the local Vietnamese MetalCraft Marine agent.

The Firestorm 36 Mk II pumping system exceeds 3,200 GPM at 150 PSI through its Darley ZSM 3000 pump and Elkhart monitors, and is equipped with an onboard AFFF foam system.

With twin Cummins 6.7L 480 HP engines and MJP 305HTH waterjets, the vessel can reach 34 knots and with the thrust and acceleration of the MJP jets, it can turn on a dime — a 180-degree turn in its own length at 34 knots.

“We deliver outstanding quality workmanship in every boat we build and that’s what we provide at a minimum,” says Bob Clark, contracts manager for MetalCraft Marine. “With customers all around the globe much care is taken to ensure that our service and maintenance support program is exceptional and readily available no matter where you’re located.”

In addition to providing maintenance schedules, regular visits from the local factory trained technician ensure that MetalCraft customers are provided support and assistance in a timely manner. Should any warranty issues arise, the local technician can engage the support of MetalCraft or any of the in-country vendors of the prime equipment on board the vessel.
