Austal USA promotes Caccivio
Austal USA has promoted John Caccivio to Vice President of Global Defense Programs.
Mr. Caccivio joined Austal as part of the Littoral Combat Ship (LCS) program in December 2004. After a brief assignment to Austal Ships in Henderson, Western Australia, he was assigned as Program Manager for Littoral Combat Ships at Austal's Mobile, Alabama facility.
He assumed the role of business development manager for Austal USA defense programs in 2006.
In his new position, Mr. Caccivio is responsible for Austal's global defense strategy and business development. He will coordinate the business sector for the Austal Group which currently comprises five shipyards in Australia and the U.S.
Before joining Austal, Mr. Caccivio spent 22 years as a U.S. Navy submariner gaining extensive experience in submarine operations and maintenance in the Pacific and Atlantic.
During this time, he completed a diplomatic posting to Australia where he was responsible for U.S. Navy, U.S. Marine Corps, and U.S. Coast Guard foreign military sales and defense cooperation projects including research and development collaboration.
He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from Arizona State University and a Masters degree in National Security and Strategic Studies from the Naval War College, Newport, Rhode Island.
Joe Rella, Austal USA's President and COO says: "With the growing importance of the U.S. Navy's LCS, and potentially the Joint High Speed Vessel program, to Austal, coupled with the growing interest in patrol boats globally, John is well positioned to lead our efforts in pursuing these opportunities. His experience and proven track record make him the obvious candidate for this very important role."
