Great Eastern orders PSV's at Singmarine

India's Great Eastern Shipping Company Ltd (GE Shipping) reports that Greatship Global Offshore Services Pte Ltd, Singapore has signed a contract for two newbuilding multipurpose platform supply and support vessels with Keppel Singmarine Pte Ltd, Singapore.

These vessels are expected to join the company's fleet in the second quarter of FY 2009-10. The 4,600+ dwt vessels will be DP-2 equipped and have diesel electric propulsion.

Great Eastern says the vessels, which are also prepared for helideck and offshore crane, will be larger and technologically more advanced than any PSV currently operational in the Indian waters.

Greatship Global Offshore Services Pte Ltd is wholly owned by Greatship (India) Ltd (GIL), which in turn is a wholly owned subsidiary of Great eastern.

GIL and its subsidiaries already have a newbuilding order book of 10 offshore supply vessels (2 mid sized PSV's and 8 AHTSV's) and one 350 ft jack-up rig. Additionally, a second hand modem PSV is to be delivered in the second quarter of FY 2007-08.
