Bush picks Kings Pointer for Marad slot
President Bush intends to nominate Sean T. Connaughton, of Virginia, to be Administrator of the Maritime Administration at the Department of Transportation.
Connaughton is currently of Counsel to Troutman Sanders LLP. He also serves as Chairman of the Prince William Board of County Supervisors. Prior to this, he worked as an Attorney at Eckert Seamans Cherin & Mellott. Earlier in his career, he served as Senior Transportation Associate for the American Petroleum Institute.
Prior to that he was Assistant Branch Chief, Office of Marine Safety, Security and Environmental Protection, U.S. Coast Guard, 1988-1986
Connaughton received his bachelor's degree from the United States Merchant Marine Academy and his master's degree from Georgetown University. He went on to receive his JD from George Mason University.
