OCTOBER 20, 2014 — The Gijón shipyard of Spanish shipbuilder Astilleros Armon is to build a new 75 m stern trawler for Norwegian fishing company Ramoen. It will be built to Rolls-Royce type NVC 372 design and will carry out traditional fishing operations for whitefish and shrimps. It will be equipped for both bottom and pelagic trawl.
To achieve the best possible operating economy and environment-friendly profile, the vessel will have an optimized hybrid propulsion system configuration based on operational studies of existing vessels.
In addition to the design, Rolls-Royce will supply the vessel's main equipment, incorporating many of its newest products, including a hybrid shaft generator system (HSG), the new Bergen B33:45 diesel engine and Promas integrated rudder and propeller system provide the most fuel efficient propulsion available in the market. Low pressure hydraulic driven trawl winches will also be delivered.
The contract value is worth £6.5 million to Rolls-Royce.
"This will be the second design of type NVC to Ramoen and we are very happy for this new contract and the longstanding cooperation with this innovative owner," said John Knudsen, Rolls-Royce President Offshore.
Fuel-economy, environmental considerations, comfort, safety and performance at sea underpin the vessel design. It has 1,200 cu.m cargo hold capacity and a 450 cu.m meal hold, with a freezing capacity of 90 t/24 hr. The holds are constructed for palletized cargo.
