JANUARY 31, 20014 — Geneva, Switzerland, headquartered Promar Shipping Services SA has ordered two platform supply vessels from Damen Shipyards Group. The first of the two Damen PSV 3300 design vessels will be delivered in February 2015 and the second, in August of the same year. They will be built at the Damen Galati shipyard in Romania.
"The PSV 3300 is at the forefront of technology in terms of equipment, being modern and reliable," says Promar Chartering Supervisor Olivier Meynis de Paulin, commenting on why the company chose a Damen vessel. "These ships are built in line with North Sea standards."
He says that Promar expects to employ the two vessels in the West African market where the company has been chartering vessels since 2002 when it was established.
"Bringing the standards of the PSV 3300 to African countries will certainly be a valuable competitive edge," he says. "In addition, the design and the level of comfort proposed by these vessels are definitely an important advantage.
"Damen is a prominent player in the shipbuilding industry with a reputation for delivering high quality, reliable, cost-effective vessels. This reputation was endorsed by our project managers, which naturally led to this partnership. The high standards and the dedicated commercial approach of Damen have been extremely satisfying."
"The Promar PSV 3300 is being tailored to meet or even exceed our charterers' expectations," says Mr. de Paulin.
Several specifications are being added such as Fire-Fighting Ship 1, ROV preparations, oil spill detection radar and a tank heating system.
Andrea Trevisan, Damen Sales Manager Sales Area North, West and South Europe says that "in addition to several innovative, technical features the PSV 3300 design ensures reliability and good seakeeping behavior, which reduces downtime - crucial in the offshore market. Crews and engineers from the oil majors want to work on such a vessel, they know it is safe, with a high level of comfort."
