JUNE 4, 2012 — Norway's Simon Møkster Shipping is increases its focus on the subsea market by ordering a newbuild for 2014 delivery from Simek Shipyard in Flekkefjord. Designed for ROV work, survey, diving and light construction work, the vessel will also be able to provide services for offshore wind farm construction work.
Designed by Multi Maritime AS in Førde, the type MM85 MSV design is a further development of the two vessels Atlantis Dweller and Stril Explorer, delivered to Møkster 2010 and 2011. Atlantis Dweller has been sold to Fugro RUE, whilst the Stril Explorer is 100 percent owned by Møkster and in May was awarded a one year contract, including two annual options, with Hallin Marine.

The newbuilding will have a diesel electric propulsion system with four generator sets supplying a total output of approx. 6,490 kW. Two electrically powered propellers aft, each of 1,600 kW, will provide a service speed rate of about 14. 5 knots.
