MAY 29, 2012 — Bollinger Shipyards, Inc. has been awarded the 2011 "Award for Excellence in Safety" by the Shipbuilders Council of America for the seventh consecutive year. And focused efforts on continuous improvement also earned Bollinger the 2011 SCA "Award for Improvement in Safety."
The Shipbuilders Council of America (SCA) presented the awards during its recent Spring General Membership Meeting in Washington, D.C.
The Award for Excellence in Safety is given to member companies with the lowest Total Recordable Incident Rates (TRIR) based on a quarterly injury and illness survey conducted by the association. The Improvement in Safety Award. This honor is given to members who have reduced their TRIR by tenpercent or more.
Accepting the award, Bollinger's Executive Vice President of New Construction, Chris Bollinger said, "Congratulations to our entire team of dedicated employees on this great honor. We are proud of our commitment to safety, and this continued success in making Bollinger one of the safest shipyards in America. These awards confirm that safety is first throughout our organization and that we are committed to continuous improvement in providing a safe working environment."
