watertaxiNOVEMBER 25, 2012—Staten Island, one of New York's boroughs hardest hit by Hurricane Sandy, will get a new temporary ferry service starting Nov. 26. The new service will be operated by New York Water Taxi, which was selected by the New York City Department of Transportation (DOT) in an expedited bidding process.

As we reported earlier, the ferry service, which will cost $2 one way, will operate for eight weeks from Great Kills, Staten Island to Wall Street and East 35th Street in Manhattan.

Funding for the new service is being provided by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).
