New COO for Aker Yards
STX has moved to strengthen the corporate management of Aker Yards ASA (which is soon to become STX Europe).
Sang-Ho Shin has been appointed Aker Yards' Chief Operating Officer (COO).
Mr. Shin moves over from a position as vice president of STX Shipbuilding in Korea, where he has been chief for the Jinhae shipyard. Sang-Ho Shin has held several senior management positions within the STX group since 1980, and has a university education with a focus on industrial strategy and mechanical engineering.
In April this year Mr. Shin was elected to the Technical Committee of ABS -- the body of leading industry representatives that conducts the final review of all proposed changes to the ABS Rules prior to their going to the ABS Rules Committee for formal adoption.
At Aker Yards, Mr. Shin will focus on production efficiency, procurement, logistics, knowledge transfer, technology and innovation.
"We are very pleased to get Sang-Ho Shin as COO for Aker Yards. The recruitment strengthens the corporate management and the support of the business operations" says Torstein Dale Sjøtveit, CEO of Aker Yards.
