Yangzijiang Shipbuilding adds to order book

China's Yangzijiang Shipbuilding (Holdings) Ltd. continues to add to its already bulging order book.

The Singapore-listed company says in a stock exchange announcement that in April and May it secured shipbuilding contracts for another twelve vessels with an aggregate contract value of US$514.39 million.

  • Two 92, 500 dwt vessels with an aggregate contract value of US$160.00 million will be deliverediin 2009;

  • Six 6,250 dwt vessels with an aggregate contract value of US$76.39 million will be delivered in 2010 and 2011; and

  • Four 4,250 TEU vessels with an aggregate contract value of US$278.00 million will be delivered in 2012.

Yangzijiang Shipbuilding says that between January and May this year it delivered nine ships totaling 140, 479 compensated gt and worth $307.7 million. Its total order book now stands at 163 ships aggregating over 3 million cgt and worth more than $7.18 billion.
